Yes, it’s another algorithm update from Google, but this time there’s plenty of notice.
On November 11, 2020, Google announced that page experience signals in ranking will be introduced in May 2021. The new page experience signals will merge Core Web Vitals with Google’s existing search signals such as; mobile-friendliness, safe browsing, HTTPS-security, and intrusive interstitial guidelines.
If we’ve lost you already it’s okay! We know that for many Wellington small businesses this can be a confusing world to navigate. So, we’re here to break down Google’s new update in simpler terms. Let’s start with what page experience actually means.
What does page experience mean?
Page experience is all about user experience (UX). UX relates to how users feel about your website. Do they feel happy and calm when they visit your website? Or, are they leaving feeling frustrated and annoyed? A user’s experience is shaped by a number of factors. Some of these include web design, navigation, and usability of your website. At Tailgunner, our Wellington web designers are pretty excited about this new update. We’ve been passionate about developing websites that provide excellent UX for a very long time. We believe that the secret to outstanding marketing results is, to put your target audience at the center of all that you do. Essentially, this is the very essence of the page experience. It’s all about putting your target audience’s preferences first, making their web experience a delight.
So, why should your small business care about page experience?
If you’re like most small business owners, you may believe that this update doesn’t really apply to you. But, you’re wrong. If your website has a poor user experience and Google thinks so too, it may not rank your website as high from May 2021. A low ranking score will definitely affect your search engine optimisation, visibility, and traffic. And, if you’re lacking in those departments, well… it’s not really good news. Your website will run the risk of being at the bottom of the search engine results page, a position no one wants to be at.
Don’t worry though, you still have time to discuss your page experience with our Wellington web designers. Get in touch with the team at Tailgunner today to obtain a free consultation session.
